V1

This is more than perfume. This is legacy in liquid form.

To wear V1 is to bear witness to devotion, craftsmanship and rarity distilled.

Over seven years in the making, it became the world’s most expensive perfume per ml, recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records. But beyond the accolades, V1 represents the rare convergence of ancient perfumery wisdom and modern artistic mastery.

V 1

V1 stands as the pinnacle of perfumery, the most noble of creations. Over seven years of relentless pursuit, HRH Arfaq worked in close collaboration with Arthur Burnham, Master perfumer to King Charles, who shaped a composition of extraordinary depth and balance.

Each accord, every harmony of scent, was tested, refined and perfected with an almost sacred devotion, until the fragrance transcended the ordinary to become a living masterpiece.

THE MASTERPIECE

First we researched the most notable cultures of classical antiquity: Roman, Greek, Egyptian and Babylonian. From these histories, we found both guidance and inspiration from the noble oils and essences which were used, and the kinds of fragrances which only the Caesars, the General and Pharaohs regarded as exemplars for themselves.

This contained the finest roses, quinces, saffron and myrhh. A mixture of these oils in pomade was discovered in Tutankhamen’s Tomb, smelling as fascinatingly good and mysterious when it was opened as it was 2000 years earlier.

From these and other recipes from antiquity, we worked with the most modern constituents and 21st Century technology to create and then refine the most noble and lasting perfume oil possible.

A TEMPLE OF NOTES

V1 is a complete symphony of rose, jasmine, neroli, spice, amber and precious wood notes. It will enchant you, as much as it would have graced an Egyptian temple. It is unforgettable. The parfum has identity, signature and depth.

The whole parfum is filled with deep beauty and richness. It is totally distinctive; has excellent tenacity and structure and, above all, is dramatically beautiful, far beyond its exterior presence.

ALCHEMY WITHOUT RECORD

The formula is a closely kept secret and has never been documented. There were only ever two individuals in the world who knew the precise ingredients, more than 1,400 of them, including over 35 rose essences.

Sadly, Arthur Burnham, who helped develop this fine fragrance, passed away in April 2007. HRH Arfaq remains the sole person who knows the complete formula.

Where Fragrance Meets Jewellery

1kg of pure platinum, 18ct gold and rubies captures the beauty and richness of the fragrance whilst remaining faithful to one objective: quality beyond fashion.

Finished with a 2.6 carat diamond encrusted wreath, the bottle is as precious as a fine piece of jewellery.

Each is entirely handmade and bears the recipient's name, an individual number and hallmarks.

Never before has so costly a fragrance been married to so precious a jewel.

V1 - THE KEY

To complement the richly inlaid presentation box, Graff Diamonds was commissioned by HRH Arfaq to produce a key of such quality and finesse as to be an item of jewellery in its own right.

The Key to Rarity

Hand-made in 18ct gold set with 28 fine white brilliant cut diamonds to both sides of the V1 symbol.

The collar of the shaft is carefully crafted with ten channel-set, rich-red rubies, and the whole key is finished with a six-diamond loop set,  enabling the key to be worn as a pendant or on a bracelet.

173 keys, 173 bottles. Each hallmarked, numbered, eternal.

The key to the rarest scent in existence.

V1 - THE CASE

The traditional skills of woodworking and leather trimming have been brought together to create the perfect presentation case for The Jewel perfume bottle.

Made from the recipient’s personal choice of exotic veneers: burr elm, burr walnut, burr maple or burr yew, and enhanced by the arts of cross banding and marquetry.

Coachbuilt for a Masterpiece

Gold leaf is applied to the recessed surface areas as required, and the exterior is then hand lacquered and polished to a superlative finish.

Crafted in collaboration with S C Gordon - Rolls-Royce and Bentley coachbuilders whose mastery defined an era, the case stands as a lasting tribute to their incomparable craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The interior cossets The Jewel in the finest Connolly hide. A choice of exquisite colours is offered to reflect the customer’s preferences and personality.

V1 - THE MARRIAGE

In an intriguing and demanding  twist, HRH Arfaq commissioned Graff Diamonds and
S C Gordan to separately and respectively make the lock and the key.

Their artisans were set the challenge of turning design into reality with such precision that these two independent but interconnecting pieces would fit perfectly together with no rehearsal.

The first time the key is used to open the lock is by the client after delivery. Once the key is inserted and turned, the finest hairline scratch is engraved into the key.

This is known as the marriage ceremony.
